Getting to Indonesia

Indonesia has several International airports and the one you choose will be dependent on your liveboard cruise itinerary. The most common points of entry are Bali (for our Komodo Trips) and Jakarta (for our Raja Ampat Trips).

For Raja Ampat

International Flights to Jakarta

All Raja Ampat liveaboard cruises depart from Sorong which can be reached via Jakarta, Bali or Manado. The simplest route is via Jakarta, however if you are planning to extend your stay within Indonesia for further diving or tours in Sulawesi you may opt to travel via Manado. Typical schedules allow for arrival into Sorong before 12pm and your departure flight should arrive to your international destination by 2pm.

For Komodo

International Flights to Bali

If you are travelling on a Komodo dive safari we recommend booking your international flights into and out of the Denpasar Airport, Bali (DPS). We wish to bring you quickly into the Komodo National Park to make the most of your diving experience. Therefore we have chosen Bima, on the island of Sumbubwa, as our departure point. Our team can arrange your short domestic flight connections between Bali and Bima (BMU), it is recommended to spend at least one night in Bali either side of your cruise to ensure you are on time for your domestic connection. Our travel team will advise you of the most up to date domestic connnection schedule, however it is typical that flights Bali - Bima depart prior to 12pm whilst the Bima-Bali flights usually arrive into Denpasar Airport by 1pm.

Indonesia – Getting there

On Arrival

Passport holders of most western countries are required to obtain a visa on arrival in Indonesia, which allows stays up to 30 days. The cost for this visa is 25US$ and new notes only are accepted (notes issued before 2005 may be rejected). You may be required to show a confirmed ticket to leave Indonesia within the maximum number of days you are allowed to stay in the country. For more information, please visit indo.com for up to date information.

Departure Fees & Taxes

Passengers travelling within Indonesia are required to pay airport terminal fees for both international and domestic departures. This varies from airport to airport and should be checked upon arrival. To ensure you have small denominations of local currency on hand, there are money-changing facilities at all major airports and ATMs at both Bali and Jakarta International Airports should you require a cash withdrawl. Bima and Sorong airports do not offer a money-change facility, so it is advised to make your currency exchange directly upon arrival into Indonesia. The local currency is the Indonesia Rupiah (IDR) which we accept on board along with Euros, US$ , GBP and AU$.
